A few common misconceptions about KETO and kidneys:
1. A ketogenic diet is good for PKD. False and true. There appears to be some interesting merit for ketogenic diets and PKD. However, it's important to remember that a ketogenic diet alone (without looking at oxalates and enough plants) could be damaging.

2. A ketogenic diet means I can eat all the bacon I want. FALSE. Bacon definitely is a tasty food, but it is not something we utilize in our ketogenic diet approach. One of the common pitfalls of a ketogenic diet is the amount of salty processed meats or high protein. We utilize heavy amounts of vegetables instead that have a double-winning effect of reducing inflammation and preserving kidney function.

3. A ketogenic diet will help me lose weight. Maybe true, maybe false. A ketogenic diet may help some people lose weight, especially those that have struggled to lose weight in the past.

4. A ketogenic diet is really hard to do, especially if it is more plant-based (and no bacon). Depending on the person, yes a ketogenic diet may be hard. And yes, there are some new foods to try and different ways of eating you'll need to discover. And yes, it can be totally done wrong if you don't understand how to get into ketosis and the important nutrients that may be needed (yes we use some important supplements!).
